More about our school

St. Joseph’s is a Catholic Primary School set in the heart of Tipperary Town in a beautiful safe and spacious setting. We have a staff of eleven teachers including three Special Needs Teachers.  The school has a very active Parents’ Association which supports many school activities along with helping and supporting parents.

School facilities include:

All rooms are fully refurbished, painted and are child friendly.
The school has spacious, enclosed play areas.
We also have a Sports Field, Gardens and a Fairy Grove.

An A.S.D. Pre-school unit, which opened September 2013

Book Rental Scheme

A book rental scheme is available for pupils from first to sixth class.  Many school books may be rented for the year for a small fee.  Those participating will receive their set of books on or before the day the school re-opens in August/September. Children must return books in good condition at the end of the year.

Healthy Eating

The school promotes Healthy Eating and encourages pupils to form good eating habits from an early age.  Our Healthy Eating Policy states which foods and drinks we encourage, and which foods are to be kept to a minimum. We believe our policy is realistic with the well-being of the whole school as its centre.

Sports

We place a big emphasis on sports in our school and offer a variety of sports to suit all abilities and talents.

Basketball
Rounders
Dance
Athletics
Training is provided for all pupils in Gaelic Football, and for Senior pupils in Camogie.

Visits to the local Civic Offices, Library, Post Office and Fire Station take place annually.

Playground Activities

We offer structured playground activities at lunchtime for all pupils to enable them to develop play and social skills. On wet days pupils enjoy dance and movement in our Hall. Alternatively they may play board games in their classrooms, or read library books.

The school has a very active Parents’ Association  which supports many school activities along with helping and supporting parents.
