Gaeilge le Laura/ Irish with Laura

Gaeilge le Laura-1

Gaeilge le Laura” aims to support students and parents with the remote learning of Gaeilge (Irish). This video tutorial explains “Teanglann.ie”, a useful website that works as an accurate online dictionary. Teangann.ie also gives sample phrases in which a word might appear and has added helpful functions in areas such as grammar and pronunciation.

This website may be of most use to any adults supporting students in their learning of Gaeilge or to students of 5th and 6th class in primary school.

Video 2

This is the second “Gaeilge le Laura” video, which looks at useful phrases for everyday conversations in Irish. Within the video I will read through a book created on “Book Creator” and explain some of the phrases in English. The phrases include how to say hello and goodbye, and phrases used on special occasions or to be polite, so there should be something useful for everyone.
Should you wish, you may read this online book in your own time at this link;
and simply click the speaker icon to hear me read each of the phrases in Irish.
This pdf also contains all of today’s useful phrases typed out for you in both English and Irish.
Video 3- Seachtain na Gaeilge
The 1st of March marks the beginning of Seachtain na Gaeilge which runs until March 17th. Seachtain na Gaeilge is an international festival which celebrates the Irish language and culture. Seanfhocail are just one beautiful aspect of the Irish language. Seanfhocail are old Irish proverbs, or short phrases which tell us lessons about life. This video shows some popular seanfhocail depicted within posters, with their meanings explained. I hope that you too will be encouraged to celebrate the Irish language and culture over the coming weeks and might too create some beautiful posters to celebrate your favourite seanfhocail.
