Green Schools Programme-Our 8th, 9th and 10th Flags

St. Joseph’s is a Green-School. St. Joseph’s association with Green-Schools first began when we registered with the programme in 2000. Having successfully implemented the theme of Litter and Waste Management we had the distinction of being one of the first of two schools in South Tipperary to achieve Green Flag status in 2001.

On Tuesday the 10th of May, 2016, Ms. Carmel Hickey, Green Schools Flag Co-ordinator, travelled to Kilkenny with three of the Green Schools Committee to be presented with our eighth Green Flag. This was a very happy and well-deserved moment for the committee, and indeed for the whole school. Everyone plays a part in keeping the school clean, and in studying topics such as Energy and Global Citizenship and the effects of Global Warming.

We have since been awarded our 9th Green Flag, the theme for which is Global Citizenship – Marine Environment.

This theme focuses on raising awareness of marine eco-systems and the work being done to save them.

In June 2020, we were awarded our 10th Green Flag.
