President Higgins records message of hope and thanks for students in primary schools
President Michael D. Higgins has today issued special video messages for students in 6th class of primary school.
Schools across Ireland have been closed since the evening of Thursday 12 March, disrupting the lives of thousands of students all around the country.
In his message to the 6th class students, the President acknowledges the disruptions to students’ lives, and the disappointment associated with the cancellation of so many planned events. The President also sends his best wishes to the students, as they say good-bye to their primary school years.
The President’s messages are available here:
Message to sixth class students
Well done for receiving 10th Green Flag.
The 2019/2020 academic year marks the 23rd year of the Green-Schools programme in Ireland. Despite the temporary closure of schools in March, schools submitted their Green Flag applications after a two-year effort to create sustainable environments in their schools. In St. Joseph’s Primary School, we are very lucky to have Ms. Carmel Hickey in charge of Green Schools, and we say a huge “Thank you” to everyone else who is involved- staff, pupils, parents, local community, ….
During May, 750 schools were awarded the Green Flag for their work on the themes of Litter & Waste, Energy, Water, Travel, Biodiversity and Global Citizenship. Green-Schools wishes to congratulate all Green-Schools students, school staff and families who helped schools in achieving and renewing the Green Flag 2020! Join in on the celebrations virtually for lots of #GreenFlag2020 celebrations! Click on the links to hear lots of video messages from Green-Schools Officers, Environmental Awareness Officers and Sponsors who are all so proud of your wonderful achievements!
